Effective date: July 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information the GPS Map Camera app ("the App", "we", "us", "our") collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the App on Android (com.ackbiz.gps_camera) and iOS (com.ackbiz.gps-camera), published by ACKBiz. If you have any questions, contact us at contact@ackplus.com.
GPS Map Camera is a camera that takes photos and stamps them with information such as the date and time, GPS coordinates, an address, a map, weather, altitude and compass. It also plots your photos on a map so you can see where they were taken.
A key point up front: the App has no account or sign-in system. Your photos and their capture details are stored locally on your device. The App does not upload, sync, or back up your photos or your capture history to our servers. Some features send limited data to third-party services to work, such as sending your coordinates to a mapping or weather service. Those cases are described below.
Information we collect and why
Camera content. The App uses your device camera to take photos and videos and composites a stamp onto them. This is processed on your device; we do not receive copies. A photo only leaves your device if you choose to save, export, print, or share it.
Precise location. With your permission, the App accesses your device's precise location to stamp the coordinates and a derived address onto your photos, to show your position and plot your photos on a map, and to fetch local weather. Location is used only while you are using the App; there is no background location tracking. To turn coordinates into an address and to fetch weather, your latitude and longitude are sent to the third-party services listed below.
Photos and media. With your permission, the App reads photos from, and saves stamped photos to, your device's gallery. Photos and their capture details are stored locally in the App's own storage. There is no cloud upload or sync by the App.
Microphone. The App requests microphone access only so it can record audio while you record a video. If you do not record video, no audio is captured.
Diagnostics and analytics. Through Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Analytics), the App collects technical and usage information such as device model, operating-system version, app version, language, crash logs, and events describing how features are used. This helps us keep the App stable and understand which features are used.
Advertising (free tier only). If you use the free tier, the App shows ads through Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier and process ad-interaction and coarse device or network data. On iOS this is governed by App Tracking Transparency, described below. If you subscribe to Pro, ads are removed.
Purchases and subscriptions. When you buy a Pro subscription, the transaction is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and your subscription status is managed through RevenueCat. We and RevenueCat receive purchase and entitlement information so we can unlock Pro and let you restore purchases. We do not receive your full card number; that is handled by the app store.
Optional support contact. On the in-app support screen you may optionally enter a name, email, and phone number so we can help you. Because there is no account system, these are stored locally on your device and mirrored to RevenueCat as customer attributes so support can identify you. You can edit or clear them at any time in the App.
Optional feedback. If you send feedback, the App opens your own email app with a pre-filled message that includes what you wrote plus basic diagnostics (app version, operating system, device model, and a timestamp) so we can reproduce issues. The message is sent from your email account; we do not collect it silently.
Information we do not collect. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your real name, email, or phone unless you voluntarily enter them for support. We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories such as health or biometric data, and we do not upload your photo library to our servers. We do not use your photos to train models, and we do not sell your personal information.
Third-party services
The App relies on the third-party services below. Each processes only what is needed for its function, under its own privacy policy.
- Google AdMob, to show and measure ads on the free tier and, with consent where required, to personalise them.
- Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Analytics), for crash reporting and usage analytics.
- Google Maps Platform (Maps and Geocoding), for interactive maps and address lookup on the Pro map features.
- Apple Maps, the App Store, and App Tracking Transparency, for maps on iOS, purchases, and the tracking permission.
- RevenueCat, to manage subscription entitlements and restore purchases.
- Google Play Billing, to process purchases on Android.
- OpenStreetMap, for the map tiles used in previews and in the burned-in stamp map.
- Open-Meteo, to fetch the weather for the location you capture.
When the App uses a mapping, geocoding, or weather service, your coordinates and, as part of any network request, your device's IP address, are sent to that provider so it can return the requested result.
Permissions and how to turn them off
- Camera, used to take photos and videos. Turn it off in your device Settings under Privacy or Apps.
- Location (precise, while in use), used to stamp location and show maps and weather. Turn it off in Settings under Location.
- Photos and media, used to save and read stamped photos. Turn it off in Settings.
- Microphone, used for audio while recording video. Turn it off in Settings.
- Tracking (iOS only), used for personalised ads on the free tier. Change it in Settings under Tracking or in the in-app prompt.
If you deny or revoke a permission, related features stop working, but the rest of the App continues to work.
App Tracking Transparency and advertising ID
On iOS 14.5 and later, before any tracking that uses the device advertising identifier for cross-app advertising, the App presents Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you do not grant permission, the App and its ad partner will not use the identifier to track you across apps, and you will see non-personalised ads instead. You can change your choice any time in Settings under Tracking. On Android, you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your device's Google settings. Pro subscribers see no ads.
How we use the data
We use the information described above to take photos and generate stamped images on your device; to provide location, map, address, weather, and timezone features; to save and organise your photos and plot them on a map; to provide, restore, and manage Pro subscriptions; to show and measure ads on the free tier; to diagnose crashes and improve stability; and to respond to your support requests and feedback.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for location access, personalised advertising, and iOS tracking; on the performance of a contract for providing the App and any Pro subscription you buy; on our legitimate interests for security, crash diagnostics, non-personalised advertising, and answering support requests; and on legal obligations where the law requires. Where we rely on consent, a consent prompt is shown in the relevant regions, and you can change your choices in the App at any time.
Data retention
Your photos and their capture details stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App; we do not hold copies. Support-contact details stay on your device until you clear them, with the mirrored attributes at RevenueCat kept per RevenueCat's retention. Diagnostics, advertising, and purchase data are retained by Google, RevenueCat, and the app stores per their own policies. Uninstalling the App removes the data it stored locally.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children and is intended for users aged 16 and over, or the minimum digital-consent age in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at contact@ackplus.com and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Because most of your content stays on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly by deleting photos in the App or your gallery, clearing your support contact, revoking permissions in system Settings, and resetting or limiting your advertising ID. To make a request to us, email contact@ackplus.com.
United States privacy
We do not sell your personal information, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. Some advertising activity on the free tier may be considered "sharing" for targeted advertising under certain U.S. state laws; where that is the case, you can opt out through the in-app consent controls and, on iOS, by declining App Tracking Transparency. Residents of California and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing; to exercise them, contact contact@ackplus.com.
International data transfers
Our third-party providers, such as Google, Apple, and RevenueCat, may process data in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws differ from yours. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses operated by those providers.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. Your photos and capture data are stored in the App's private storage on your device and protected by your device's own security. Network requests to third-party services use encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above and post the new version at this page. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
