1. Introduction
ExpiryGuard ("the App", "we", "us") is a document-expiry reminder app built to keep your personal documents organised and remind you before they expire. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data the App processes, where it is stored, and your rights.
2. Data we collect and how we use it
2a. Data you enter — stored only on your device
All document information you add (names, dates, document numbers, photos, PDFs) is stored exclusively on your device using local storage. It is never uploaded to any server, never shared with us or any third party, and never backed up to the cloud unless you explicitly export a ZIP file yourself.
This includes:
- Document names, types, expiry dates, issue dates, document numbers
- Attached photos and PDF copies of your documents
- Family-member names and relationships
- Reminder preferences and app settings
We have no access to any of this information.
2b. Crash diagnostics and analytics — Firebase (Google)
The App uses Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) to help us detect crashes and understand how the App is used in aggregate (e.g., which screens are visited, how long sessions last).
This means the following data is automatically collected and sent to Google when you use the App:
Data Purpose
Crash logs, stack traces
Identify and fix bugs
App session events (screens visited, button taps)
Improve features and UX
Device model, OS version, app version
Debug compatibility issues
A random Firebase installation ID
Link events in a session (not tied to your identity)
Google processes this data under Google's Privacy Policy. Firebase Analytics data is not used for advertising.
No personal document content (document names, dates, photos, etc.) is ever included in analytics or crash reports.
3. Data we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information
- We do not require an account or sign-up
- We do not access your contacts, location, microphone, or any data beyond what you explicitly add to the App
- We do not sell your data to anyone
- We do not serve advertising
4. Permissions the App requests
Permission Why
Camera
To photograph documents for the scan & auto-fill feature
Photo library / media access
To pick existing images or PDFs to attach to a document
Notifications
To send you renewal reminders before a document expires
Biometrics / device passcode
Optional app lock — no biometric data leaves the device
These permissions are only used for the stated purpose and are requested only when you trigger the relevant feature.
5. Data retention
Document data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is deleted by the operating system.
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is retained by Google for up to 14 months (Analytics) and 90 days (Crashlytics) under their standard policies.
6. Children's privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us at contact@ackplus.com and we will take appropriate action.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
